Fellow Africans! My name is Grant, I am from South Africa. The 2010 world cup has been an exciting and joyful time for this country and continent. It has brought a unity that has never been seen in Africa. It has brought brothers and sisters from different, races, cultures, languages and countries together in celebration and in sorrow. Strangers have danced together and they have cried together. It has brought hope to the people of this beautiful continent.
In the second round all of Africa rallied behind the Black Stars from Ghana, and after the quarter final all of Africa mourned together with them.
Many of us were left angry and filled with hatred. And now that hatred threatens to steal our joy and to destroy our unity. But we cannot let that happen. We must fight for this new found hope.
Inspired by Bafana Bafana, the Black Stars and all of Africa I wrote a poem which we have made into a video. Please watch it and spread the word to anyone and everyone. We have stood divided for far too long, it’s time we stand together.
For we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed
