Magaliesburg, Gauteng, South Africa
Magaliesburg is the oldest mountain range in the world and approximately one hour's drive from the bustling cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria. The Magaliesburg Mountain range dates back to over 2000 million years ago, and is home to a magnificent diversity of fauna, flora and geology.
The village of Magaliesburg is situated amongst stunning mountains, valleys, rivers and indigenous woodland. Magaliesburg's claim to fame was the discovery of the remains of the earliest species of primitive man known today, in and around the Sterkfontein Caves, situated about 20 minutes from the village.
