Modimolle previously Nylstroom, Limpopo, South Africa
Modimolle, a town located in the Waterberg, was formed in 1866 on Rietvallei farm. It was called Nylstroom and renamed to Modimolle in 2002. Today, the town focuses on a life of farming (grapes, cattle and citrus), wildlife and tourism.
A Dutch Reformed Church was built in 1889 and it's the oldest church in sub-Sahara Africa north of Pretoria. During the Second Boer War, the church was used as a hospital.
Modimolle attractions and facilities include golf, squash, bowling, tennis, the parks, gardens, Donkerpoort Dam, Modimolle Museum, Nylsvlei Bird and Nature Reserve, the Old Locomotive and Strijdom Nature Reserve. There is also the Thaba Kwena Crocodile Farm.
